Beyond flesh and humanity
We find an evolutionary cycle of the human psyche, a time line that shows the different milestones and symbolic stages of human development from the process of conception of being, to nothing.
This series of events takes us down a path where we find two marked stages within the life experience of a human being. In the first stage where it is; the conception, the cycle of personal evolution towards the environment, the milestones of personal development and the development of the collective being. And a second stage where there is the preparation towards death as a concept, the acceptance of death as reality and nothingness. These two stages of the human experience arise from a personal understanding of the need of the human being to produce a series of archetypal ideas that in their constant repetition throughout history. These symbolic elements come to represent a constant in the vision of the different elements that connect us and make us understand what it is to be human.
In addition to all this, the concept of the flesh, of the physicality of being, is very present in this evolutionary path of human consciousness. By distorting and manipulating the flesh, I try to show the idea of the relationship between the physical and the subconscious, where the former is linked to the effects of a tangible and therefore physical reality, and is affected by the concepts of time, also emphasizing to its fragility. The meat is fragile, the meat is just a vessel for the subconscious (consciousness), the meat is the only thing that connects us to reality, but it does not create it, it does not make it, it only finds us in it. Then the idea of meat gets another meaning, almost being denied by the individual. The physicality of being is just an illusion, and when this is linked to notions of identity it is null and unreal. The word meat is dehumanizing, it turns us into objects, into one more element within reality, it has nothing more than the simplicity of its most mundane meaning. The meat is physicality and the being goes much further than it, in order to understand the evolution of consciousness, one must understand the importance of its vessel.
In the same way, the characters treated in this series of images lack identity, they do not have features that give them any type of personality or any identification, they are merely symbols of something bigger than themselves, they are symbols of a human feeling that generalizes and encompasses the feeling of universality of the concept of being, of the conscious self.
But these almost inhuman elements, which themselves have certain identification components, feel distant, they make us feel connected but disconnected from ourselves, and this, I believe, accentuates the human experience, values it because we leave the ego aside, we leave the self apart to focus on a much deeper discovery, full of images that we may not be able to understand but that are captivating at the same time.
I believe that this is where the importance of these concepts lies, since much more than the flesh, much more than the human experience, there is only mystery. What exists much more than this? What is there much more than the simple question? What is it to be human? Here is the persistent questioning that fills my life, that mystery, that magic that is living and dying is what lasts.
